About Shosha Kamal

Shosha Kamal is an Egyptian designer and artist renowned for her innovative creations that seamlessly blend ancient Egyptian heritage with contemporary design. Born on October 1, 1986, in Cairo, Egypt, she initially pursued a career in marketing, working as an assistant brand manager at Unilever. However, in 2011, inspired by the work of British-Iraqi architect Zaha Hadid, Kamal experienced a profound shift in her career aspirations, leading her to study interior design at the Florence Design Academy in Italy.

Upon returning to Egypt, Kamal established the Shosha Kamal Design House, where she has been devoted to reviving ancient Egyptian art and heritage by introducing it to the modern world through her designs. Her work has garnered international acclaim; notably, her Wing Sofa was named the best sofa design worldwide in 2016 by the International Product Design Awards in London. Additionally, she has been an A' Design Award Winner for three consecutive years (2014, 2015, and 2016) in Milan, Italy, and was honored as a "Design Hero" in 2016 for her efforts in making the world a better place through good design.

In 2017, Kamal's continuous efforts in reviving ancient Egyptian heritage across all design disciplines were recognized by the President of Egypt, Abdel Fattah El-Sisi, during the Youth Conference in Alexandria. Her designs have also reached international platforms; notably, her chairs were gifted to the United States First Lady by the Egyptian President and are now part of the White House furniture collection.

Kamal's journey from a marketing professional to an internationally recognized designer exemplifies her belief in the power of design to build nations and connect cultures. Her work continues to inspire, reflecting a deep commitment to celebrating and preserving Egyptian heritage through innovative design.
